  • The First State: Delaware was the first state to ratify the U.S. Constitution on December 7, 1787, earning it the nickname “The First State.” 

  • No Sales Tax: Delaware is one of only a few states with no sales tax, making it a popular shopping destination for people from neighboring states.

  • Delaware has only three counties—New Castle, Kent, and Sussex—the fewest of any U.S. state. Each county has its own distinct culture and feel.

  • DE has more corporations than residents! Over a million companies, including many Fortune 500 firms, are incorporated in Delaware.

  • DE is home to the World Championship Punkin Chunkin event, where competitors launch pumpkins using catapults, trebuchets, and air cannons. 

  • Delaware has a long history with the DuPont family, who made their fortune in gunpowder and later diversified into chemicals. 

  • Delaware’s beaches, like Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach, are known for their charm and boardwalks.

  • Delaware Bay has one of the largest populations of horseshoe crabs in the world.
