  • “America’s Dairyland” produces over 600 varieties of cheese, more than any other state, and is especially famous for its cheddar and cheese curds.

  • Wisconsinites are affectionately known as “Cheeseheads.” Originally a football insult, but fans of the Green Bay Packers embraced it, 

  • “Waterpark Capital of the World.” It’s home to both the largest outdoor water park (Noah’s Ark) and indoor water park (Kalahari Resort) in the U.S.

  • Milwaukee is the birthplace of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The Harley-Davidson Museum is a popular attraction for bike enthusiasts.

  • WI is known for its beer bratwurst. These sausages are simmered in beer & onions before grilling. It combines the state’s love of bratwurst and beer.

  • The Packers are the only publicly owned major league professional sports team in the United States. 

  • In Rhinelander, WI there’s a local legend about a mythical creature called the “Hodag.” This folkloric beast was allegedly spotted in the 1890s.

  • WI is the top cranberry-producing state in the U.S., responsible for about 60% of the country’s cranberries.

  • The first kindergarten was started in WI in 1856 by German immigrants, introducing the concept of early childhood education to the United States.

  • Polka music and dance are beloved in Wisconsin, thanks to the state’s strong German, Polish, and Czech roots. 

  • During Packers training camp, players ride kids’ bicycles to and from the practice field. This tradition has been going strong since the 1960s.
